Job Opportunity August 2022: Machinery Operator & General Worker Position

The Log Company are looking for a new full-time person to join our growing business.
The role will primarily involve the production and delivery of our various firewood products which is yard based, as well as time out on the road delivering to our customers.
Here at The Log Company we are proud to be the UK distributor for Kirami wood fired hot tubs and saunas. Alongside Kirami’s products we retail a wide range of wood fired outdoor living products from other well-known brands.
This diverse range of popular products means we are kept busy all year round. Deliveries can range from logs to surrounding villages, towns and cities in the winter season through to a trip to deliver and install wood fired hot tubs and saunas on a Scottish island in summer. Days are very rarely the same and there are great opportunities to be outdoors, travel the countryside and meet people.
The role will involve some manual work but where possible we try to use machinery to make life easier and safer. We have a brand new Pinosa firewood processing factory which takes much of the manual work away. There is a good amount of operation of machinery such as telehandlers, forklifts and tractors, as well as regular driving of vans and 4×4 vehicles with trailers.
We have a number of ongoing projects within the business which would utilise other skills such as joinery, welding and fabrication and landscaping.
Previous experience in farming or forestry would be beneficial, as well as being aged over 25 for insurance purposes.
Production, Yard & Delivery Tasks:
- Processing and bagging logs using machinery
- Loading and unloading delivery vehicles
- Preparing orders for delivery or collection
- Other yard tasks as required
- Planning an efficient route and communicating with customers
- Keep sensitive information private and confidential
Skills and Attributes:
A driving license is essential. A people person with good attention to detail, patient, problem solver, capable of working alone and within a small team, a flexible attitude to a working within a growing small business. Opportunity to progress and plentiful overtime.
Job Type: Permanent Full Time, 39+ hours per week
Start Date: Immediate
Reporting to: Operations Manager and Company Directors
Pay: Depending on skills and experience, more than the living wage with ample overtime at time and a half
